Softball is offered for girls between the ages of 5 through 12. The goal of these programs is for the children to have fun while learning the fundamentals of fast pitch softball and develop good sportsmanship.

Each player will receive a shirt that they can keep. Bats and helmets are provided, but players can bring their own. Each player will need to provide their own glove.

T-BALL:
Ages: 5-6 (as of 1/1)
This is a co-ed program designed to introduce children to baseball/softball and begin to teach the basics of hitting, throwing, and catching.

PIXIE SOFTBALL:
Ages: 7-9 (as of 1/1)
Practices: Approximately two times a week starting in late March.
Games: Approximately 2 times per week from late April through mid June.
League: This is a coach pitch league in which all players are provided an equal opportunity to bat and play the field. No standings are kept in order to emphasize the Alburtis, and Longswamp.

A’s SOFTBALL:
Ages: 10-12 (as of 1/1)
According to league rules girls who play for travel teams and/or middle school teams can not play in the intramural league. However, these girls are still encouraged to sign up so that we can account for them in the event the travel team or middle school team does not work out for them. In addition, girls on the middle school team can join the intramural league at the conclusion of the middle school season.
Practices: 2-3 times per week starting late March.
Games: 2-3 games per week from late April through mid June. There are league playoffs and All-Star game that take place at the end of June.
League: Scores and standings are kept at this level. While most ASA rules are used, there are modifications made to assist beginning pitchers and to minimize the affect of walks on the game. The entire team is placed in the batting order and each player must play at least two defensive innings. We play teams from Macungie, Emmaus, Lower Macungie, Alburtis, Longswamp, and Salisbury.

Adult Softball
The Adult Softball program will run again this year. The idea is to just get together and have fun; no heavy competition. We'll choose sides from those who show up and play until we decide to stop. It should be another fun season and it is a great way to socialize. We encourage both men and women to participate. So come out to play or just watch. Either way, it is always good for some laughs.

Rob Cantone is coordinating this group again this year. For more information, you can contact him at rjc2@ptd.net

As a United Way member agency, no one is ever denied participation due to financial hardship. Scholarships (based on need) are available upon request.
